Kathy May, digital artist and web designer, began her career as Kathleen Farago, printmaker and painter.
Kathy’s formal art education began at Sir George Williams University (Concordia); graduating with an honors B.F.A. from the University of Western Ontario. Further exploration of visual techniques was done at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Fanshawe College, H. B. Beal Technical, and the University of Alberta.
Her early years, found her working in Montreal, Toronto, London, Ontario, Edmonton and Rochester, N.Y. As an exhibiting artist, Kathy had her own printmaking studio, producing fine art etching and silkscreen editions. In 1986 she was delighted to expand her range and dove into the digital realm. In short order, she was working with the earliest digital imaging software, and as the industry developed, progressively moved up to more sophisticated software. Her favorite program is Adobe Photoshop.
In the ‘90’s Kathy ran a company that built digital imaging systems for commercial printers, photographers, movie studios and artists. She integrated the systems and taught clients optimal use of their systems and completed their initial digital projects, while they learned how to make the leap from analog.
Through her Los Angeles company, ChromaZones, she combines her creative inspiration with the needs of her clients, to produce unique websites. The range of her artistic capabilities, allow her to take design projects from concept to finished product, including illustrations, photographic montage, logo and brand identity creation, and even text editing to clearly and persuasively express the message of each website.
Kathy has a strong interest in Alternative Healing and her awareness of this field is reflected in several of her web designs: www.musclehealth.us, www.wiepcare.com and www.healingartofliving.com.
Her passion is design, and she is willing to try her hand at designing almost anything. Kathy has experience designing everything from clothes, carpets, interiors, houses, publicity campaigns, advertising design, logos and websites.
